Hands down I would recommend this shop to anyone looking for quality service!!!!Guys automotive saved me from a horrible situation and I?m incredibly grateful for the work these guys put into helping fix my Jeep. From the beginning.. I ran into a situation where my car would not start and I had no idea why. I googled the closest shop from where I live and I stumbled across a place called Clark?s automotive.. had my car towed there only to be told nothing simple could be fixed on my car ( upon getting the car towed I had suspected my battery was dead or I needed a new starter) Clark?s automotive said no no the car has engine failure and could not be fixed.They recommend I start calling around to junk yards to find someone who would buy the car because it would cost more to fix my 2019 jeep than it?s worth. The situation had me stressed the hell out because I wasn?t given a reason why this could happen or how it could be fixed. Fast forward to the next day.. I called around to a few mechanic shops and one in Tampa suggested I try Guys automotive because they are the only people in town who know how to fix newer cars, especially my make and model. I called Guys automotive and that?s when I spoke to TIM. I told Tim what was going on and asked him if he could take a look at the car for a second opinion. I asked him to be honest and please let me know if he thought my Jeep was fixable. Tim?s exact words were ?everything is fixable? let me take a look and let you know what we need to do. When I tell you, his professionalism, follow up and general honesty gave me sooo much relief. When he called me back with a diagnosis he broke down the specifics of what was wrong with my car, he told me what needed to be done, what the cost would be. You could tell he is a experienced mechanic and his motive is not to bullshit people. He made me feel like I could trust him just by simple conversation. I have never met this man but just by talking to him I felt like I was in good hands! The next call I received the next day I was told my car was up and running and guess what.. my engine did not fail! Yes I had some damage and needed new parts that included a new starter, battery and spark plugs but the fact of the matter is they took care of business. Moving forward I will always trust guys automotive- in particular TIM because he made my experience at this shop exceptional and although I live all the way in Riverview I will tow/ drive my car to Guys automotive for service because they are the best! I am just so grateful for what they did to help me!

He never forwarded the message back to him , just trying to rush me off the phone. Hence I had the service done somewhere else. So Guy lost business, because of Alex. It's like you go to a great Dr.,but their front office staff is terrible. It takes away from the Dr.

I went into the W Hillsborough location yesterday for a quick inspection to see what the problem was and to then have it worked on. Ended up not paying a dime. We located the issue being that the coils were on the wrong spark plug & together we fixed the issue. Now my mustang is running on all 8 cylinders. The guy I tried to offer to pay something but he asked if I could just leave a review for his good work. Me & my girl are very thankful. I am returning to this location to get a new drivetrain carrier bearing put in soon.

I told them I thought my car needed wheel bearings. They drove the car and said yes your correct. They changed both front wheel bearings and the problem wasn't fixed. The front desk person said I need new tires and that's the cause for the sound and vibration while driving. My tires are less than 2 years old and in excellent condition. Do not go to this place! They just want to make money. Look at their parking lot. They have over 10 vehicles with no plates. It's sketchy and not a business that I would recommend to anyone. After posting a review I received a phone call and a partial refund which I greatly appreciated. That act of kindness prompted me to change my rating from 1 star to 4 stars.

I have to share my wonderful experience, on Monday I had taken my car to work because it needed to be turned on and driven. I went to work in the morning I met my husband for dinner and it just didn't seem that my AC was blowing any cold air. While we're having dinner I was surfing the Internet and walk through the Internet and I found Guys auto repair on Hillsborough Avenue. I told my husband i'm going to call them to see if he works on Volkswagen Jetta TDI and I explained several problems to him over the phone and realized that I needed to take the car in so he could see it. I met with Danny I explained everything that I needed fixed and he counseled me and fixing the most important thing first, which was the air-conditioning. Let me tell you this car is a 2001 Volkswagen Jetta TDI diese. l had been to the Volkswagen dealers, specialty air condition shops and no one has been able to find the problem, until now! Danny was awesome, they took my car apart, took pictures of everything that he was going to replace and text them to me. He told me exactly what everything was going to cost in detail and I told him to go ahead and do it. Today, Thursday, June 29, 2017 Danny told me I could come pick up my car and after turning on the AC it runs better than when it was brand-new. I'd like to thank Danny and his technicians for an awesome job! I recommend all my friends and family and anyone that needs to find and auto shop please check Danny out Guys auto repair on Hillsborough Avenue . Highly recommend! I went to a mechanic and they estimated me for around $400, I don't even think they listened to me when I told them my problem. Went to Guy's and Danny knew what the other mechanic shop said I needed fixed wouldn't cause the problems I had. All together the diagnosis, parts, and labor cost around $200 so I saved money and got my problem fixed. My car is running great, lifetime customer now. Call and Danny will take great care of you!

I hardly ever write reviews, but we had such a great experience at Guy's today, I had to share! My husband and I just moved to Tampa last weekend, and about 500 miles into a 1200 mile move to Tampa from Arkansas, my check engine light came on and I noticed the turbo indicator on my 2008 Saturn Sky was acting up. I could tell I had lost a lot of acceleration power, but we decided to push through and luckily made it to Tampa. I was very nervous about taking it in anywhere to have it looked at (firstly because I was afraid it was something major and was going to cost a fortune but also because I didn't know where to go or who to trust in our brand new town)! I jumped online and after reading other positive reviews about Guy's, we decided to bring it in and let Dan take a look. He was able to quickly diagnose and fix the problem (luckily just a broken clamp), and he was able to fix it same day for under $200 - what a huge relief!! Thanks, Dan - I hope I don't have any issues anytime soon, but if I do, I know where we will go :-)

If you are looking for a great service at a great price go to guys automotive. Dan is the man who runs the shop and he has been a good friend of mine for about 10 years. He truly is a great person. He goes above and beyond to please his customers. He will not allow you to drive your car away from the shop without fixing your problems. He does things that the dealerships at a much more reasonable price. He is incredibly smart and a master at his work. The mechanics are impeccable and Dan works with them to make sure everything is done properly and with the best quality. Is also a very funny man and will make you laugh which is a great thing to experience when you're having car problems.

I dont typically write reviews but i had to for this one. Im not from the area and i came here because of all the great reviews I read. I have to say they completely EXCEEDED my expectations! I have an Acura RL that was making whining noises. After a thorough inspection Guy's was able to diagnose and fix the problem that same day. I was explained in detail the reasons for the noise and was given options and fair pricing for the work. The guys here are polite, extremly knowledgeable and professional. When i left my car was driving like brand new no noise and very smooth. Definitely recommend this spot if your having issues with your car and if I ever have issues again (knock on wood) I will definitely be coming back!

I am new to Tampa, and needed my front brake pads and rotors replaced. The first garage I visited quoted me at almost $600, a figure I (with limited auto knowledge) knew was overtly costly. I found Guy's and made a call. The GM, Dan - despite being extremely busy - replaced my brakes for half the price I was initially quoted, and had the car available before my work day concluded. Highly recommend!

the Honda dealership told me I would need to replace the transmission on my CR-V at a cost of $4,500 so I went to Guy's for a second opinion and I'm SO glad I did. After their thorough inspection, the transmission was fine but they found other issues like the CV joints, brakes, oil leak, on-board computer update, AC compressor, etc... Dan Pena worked relentlessly w/ my warranty company to keep my cost as low as possible and I ended up at only $700 out of pocket w/ a one year warranty on their work. Really glad I found a trustworthy mechanic.

My Electronic Throttle body light came on in my Chrysler 300 SRT8. I had to leave the country for 9 months and the car sat in the driveway. Upon return, the car wouldnt start or shift out of park. I took it to Jim Browne Chrysler off Florida Ave, and they wanted to charge me 1,400 just to START my car, trying to convince me that i needed a new starter, battery, and shifter assembly. The estimate wasnt even for the initial problem. I called "Guys" and spoke with Dan the Manager. He had me in THE NEXT DAY, and the car was fixed the same day I brought it in. With the exception of my battery needing to be charged. He and his team not only SOLVED my issue. They saved me $3000 and a headache. No new battery needed, no starter needed, no new throttle body.Funny thing is, IDIDNT EVEN NEED TO REPLACE THE THROTTLE BODY, BUT SIMPLY NEEDED TO PLUG AND SNAP INTO PLACE. The dealership never took the time to even figure that out.The only thing I was charged for was them re-assembling my shifter assembly. GUY'S really took the time to FIX my car rather than UPCHARGE for all new parts and labor. I WILL NEVER TAKE MY CAR TO ANOTHER DEALERSHIP. Dan and his team are super friendly. HIS CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AWESOME. He kept me in the loop the whole time, and was STRAIGHT UP with me the whole process. If you can get your car to "Guys", its well worth it.

We had a 2008 SMART ForTwo. We had owned it for less than a year when we started experiencing a loss of power. We took it to the Benz dealership and were told that two of our three cylinder heads were cracked. It was going to cost us $6800 to repair it. Needless to say we were unhappy. The car was only worth $3000 and we still owned quite a bit on the car. We called around but most other dealerships in the area wouldn't even look at a SMART car. Guy's was a godsend. Not only did they look at our car, they determined that it was the actuator, and not the cylinder heads. $500 later, and the car was running like a dream. We've been going to guy's ever since!

Boy do I love this place! I was told by my Ford Dealership that I needed a new A/C evaporator at a cost of $2,000 and 2-3 days labor! I called Guy's and was quoted same day service for less than half the price. (If this doesn't tell you what a rip off dealerships can be!) Here's the kicker - when Guy's got my car, they informed me that I had ZERO evaporator problems and that my issues where with excessive pressure and a semi-broken fan. They found this AFTER I told them I "didn't need" diagnostics done. Imagine if I had spent $2,000 and never had the real problem fixed. The best part of Guy's is the customer service. They texted me a week later to make sure all was still running well. Very thankful for their work.

Dan is awesome. My 2009 Mercury Sable broke down in front of his shop and he was kind enough to fill me in on the details of what went wrong. In my case, my engine was full of coolant and I had blown a gasket and needed to replace the motor. There isn?t a finer garage around and that is why I drive a distance to take my car to Guy?s on Hillsborough. These people are master technicians. Orlando and Antonio are super skilled at their work. Dan at the controls is like a magician! And what hair! There is a good atmosphere in here and now even a towel in the bathroom! I would never hesitate to send someone to Guy?s on Hillsborough. Dan will take care of you and keep your price reasonable, often with ingenious alternative measures. He is quite adept at getting goods from junkyards and other recycled places too. I needed to come back one night for reassurance about something and they did not turn me away. Good folks in here. They are bi-lingual too. You can count on Guy?s! Remember to turn at Rosemont.

I drive a 2001 Acura CL that had an intermitent problem where the car would sometimes not start and would randomly shut off, took it to two diff auto repair shops who said it could be a few different things that could cause that and they could not get the car to duplicate the issue so they hooked it up to a dianostic computer and I walked away with a bill for labor and the car still not working. I researched online looked at Guys automotive who boasted of having Honda experience, well Guys came through. The dudes at Guys went the extra mile, besides just hooking it up to a machine and waiting for codes to simply tell them the issue, when that failed they took time to take apart the car to visually look for the problem and found that the ignition switch was burned up enough to cause the malfunction. Also based off your knowledge of cars they take time to explain to you over the phone what the issue is. It was a lil pricey but done right is done right, I would rather pay for quality work instead of people just hooking up things up to a computer like other shops. I am very satisfied

If you own a used SmartCar, please go to Guy's. They're the only repair shop I found in Tampa Bay that is not scared to service SmartCars, and is competent when it comes to working on them (looking at you Mercedes of Tampa).They just recently repaired my Smartcar back to health when I thought it was done for good. I am only going to Guy's going forward, I can't thank them enough for their services.

I've been there twice. The first time was because my steering pressure dropped. They pretty much knew instantly that I was just low on steering fluid and filled it up for free. Literally didn't charge me for anything. Months later and that's still working great. Second time, my brake pressure dropped rapidly. They found the leak in about 10 seconds and fixed both sides. Both times were a great experience. Honest, quick, and straightforward.

I live and have worked in the Chicago area Automotive industry for 30 years. My son that lives in Tampa and goes to school at USF. He called me and said there was a knocking noise coming from under his chevy Equinox. Being very concerned that he may have done something stupid I had him have it checked and my fears were realized that my very smart, good kid that has been "Car Inept" ran it OUT OF OIL! Once my anger and disapointment in him Somewhat subsided I needed to find a reliable & a place I could trust being almost 1500 miles away! After hours of searching I found Guy's in Tampa, though still leary as I am in the "Car Business" I called and spoke to Guy. He was great to discuss my sons potential engine replacement though he didn't even have the vehicle yet and understood my frustration with my son. He quoted me a price that I felt was fair and helped to relieve my fears of my "Automotive Ignorant son" would not be coming back for constant tweeking after it was repaired. Guy had the vehicle picked up and a week later and a number of updates it was completed with NO change in the quoted price for the engine replacement. So Grateful! He only uses new parts and guarantees everything for a year! When something is fixed it is fixed right and I would give him a 10 instead of a 5.0 if possible all my friends and family have been coming here for way over 20 years and he is the most honest mechanic in the United States of America! We are so lucky to have him in a wonderful state of Florida! WOW I just said the word HONEST and MECHANIC in the same sentence! I love this place and will continue going! Let me tell anyone who reads this, don?t hesitate to bring your car or truck here this Shoo is spectacular. I brought in an older vehicle that has sentimental value to our family. It was time for a new motor, they breathed new life into the 4-runner Toyota with a used low mileage motor from japan. They have connections found me a 60,000 mile motor and performed a seamless exchange! It runs so smooth now! They cleaned everything up beautifully in the engine bay. I was so impressed I referred a buddy from work to get some body work done on his car. Wow the new paint is so smooth no orange peels, simply flawless workmanship. They even cleaned his car when done! Than you Guy Skiver and team! We are truly greatful 10 + stars????????????????????

Overall I was very satisfied with the price and work we received to repair my wife's car. Wish that my wife would stop hitting inanimate objects on the road. But I didn't marry her for her driving. Had to replace the bumper and paint a quarter panel. I received multiple quotes from several locations. Guy's offered the most competitive. Transmission in my Nissan Crew Cab failed to the point I had no reverse, and it would barely move. Guy, Pat, Al and his experienced staff rebuilt the transmission in a timely manner, and performed the necessary quality checks to make sure the job was done correctly. The fee to rebuild the transmission was extremely fair. In fact, I had the vehicle inspected by four previous shops, and no one could figure out what was wrong with the vehicle. Amazing service my Porsche alternator went out and their technicians were able to take care of it....they also found some vacuum line leaks that were giving me the red light of death brake booster...the dealership's all wanted to charge me $1ks to replace booster and some relay. They said they fixed the leaky hose and wala no more red brake booster red light while driving...you probably need brakes when driving?...theyre diagnostics were very thorough, the best way to describe it is they had all the tools and software the only issue was waiting for Porsche to deliver the water hoses for the cooler...I can't believe they use water to cool alternator...learn something new everyday! Thanks Al the green pea machine and Guy for an amazing job...vroom....vroom....I can stop on a dime!

I've been there twice. The first time was because my steering pressure dropped. They pretty much knew instantly that I was just low on steering fluid and filled it up for free. Literally didn't charge me for anything. Months later and that's still working great. Second time, my brake pressure dropped rapidly. They found the leak in about 10 seconds and fixed both sides. Both times were a great experience. Honest, quick, and straightforward.
