Engine Rebuild : The process of dismantling a engine, inspecting the parts, re-machining or replacing all of the internal wearable parts and reassembly of the engine. The engine must be striped down to a bear engine block. Cylinder heads must be dismantled and both the engine block and cylinder head(s) must be inspected for defects, cracks and all machinable specifications. Once these castings are cleared, then the cylinder heads must be totally built taking care of the valve guides, valve stem seals, valve seats, intake valves, exhaust valves and or camshaft(s). The cylinder block is fitted with pistons, rings, crankshaft, balance shaft, timing chain or belt and or a camshaft. The oil pump, freeze plugs, seals, rings, bearings and gaskets should all be replaced during the rebuild process. The whole process requires a clean facility, an engine mechanic and special tools and equipment.
Engine rebuilds are needed when an engine goes bad and the customer wants the same engine repaired. Warning signs of a bad engine include bad engine sounds like knocking, banging or clanking. Excessive smoking from the tailpipe or over usage of engine oil also may point at an engine problem. Other types of failed engines may be an abused engine, severely overheated engine or a blown engine with a hole blown out of the engine block or oil pan.
Getting an engine rebuild is a preference. Other options may be a new, used or a rebuilt long-block. Whether you need an engine repaired or an entire engine replaced or rebuilt, give Guy’s Automotive a call for all of your engine rebuild or repair needs.
